“Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else.” George Orwell

Context and needs

The term ‘utopia’ was created by Thomas More in 1516 to describe an “ideal society”, which is shaped by strict rules to create a place of justice, security and fairness. In this society, differences are nullified in favour of social equity, guaranteeing the kingdom’s agriculture and subsistence farming. People live in harmony, and culture and knowledge are the basis of living.
The big and persistent local and global economic crises, employment difficulties, the existence of social conflicts, and environmental problems generate scenarios that are far from utopia.

The younger generations are characterised by a growing sense of generalised distrust, primarily in the institutions, from the loss of ideals to the emergence of dystopias
The project aims to make youngsters more informed and involved in the problems of society, promoting their empowerment which aims to make them European citizens aware that through greater responsibility towards individuals, they can achieve important results.
The project objectives will provide tools and resources to encourage youngsters to participate in democratic life more actively, make them aware of their social, cultural and historical heritage, and inspire further projects, ideas and local and/or global changes.
